In order for you to work and travel in New Zealand, you will need to apply for a Working Holiday Scheme Visa.
This visa allows you to work and travel throughout New Zealand for either 12 months or 23 months (If you choose 12 months you can extend to 23 months once you’re in the country).
You’re eligible for this visa if you:
- Have a passport that is valid for at least 3 months after your planned departure from the country

Are between the ages of 18-30

Are not planning on bringing a child with you

Have $350 NZD saved for every month you’re planning to be in the country. One year planned = $4200 NZD saved (about £2,000 GBP – for latest conversion rates go to XE)

Have a return ticket or enough money saved to purchase a return ticket

Meet the character and health requirements (no criminal history or major health problems)
– If you have a criminal history or major health problems, you can still apply and still be accepted depending on the situation
Other Details:
- Fee: $165 NZD (about £80 GBP – for latest conversion rates go to XE)
- You can study for up to 6 months
- The United Kingdom has a reciprocal health care agreement with New Zealand so while in the country you will be covered by New Zealand’s national health scheme
- You must not work for more than 12 months
- If you choose a 23 month visa, you will be required to submit the results of a medical exam
