If you are a citizen of the USA:
In order for you to work and travel in New Zealand, you will need to apply for a Working Holiday Scheme Visa.
This visa allows you to work and travel throughout New Zealand for one year.
You’re eligible for this visa if you:
- Have a passport that is valid for at least 3 months after your planned departure from the country
- Are between the ages of 18-30
- Are not planning on bringing a child with you
- Have $4200 NZD saved (about $3,100 USD – for latest conversion rates go to XE)
- Have a return ticket or enough money saved to purchase a return ticket
- Have/acquire medical/hospitalization insurance for the length of your stay
- Meet the character and health requirements (no criminal history or major health problems)
– If you have a criminal history or major health problems, you can still apply and still be accepted depending on the situation
Other Details:
- Fee: Free (If application is completed online and in the USA)
- You can study for up to 6 months
